Well and pump near rural school about 5 miles outside of Iringa. The Luther Seminary student is Theresa Riewestahl from Spooner, Wisconsin. We participated in the dedication of this well and pump which was dug and installed with support from folks in the St. Paul Area Synod!
A school named "Grace" in Swahili that trains and employs people with physical disabilities to make paper, picture albums, paper, cards, and other artistic creations. The picture albums you see in the background are made using elephant dung!
Another view of well near the rural school.
A second well which we were invited to help dedicate closer to Iringa, but also in a more rural area. The Luther Seminary student is Kristina Waters from Bottineau, ND.
We attended class at Tumaini University in Iringa with this professor and students.
Orphanage in Iringa where most of the parents of the children there have died of AIDS. This ministry began because a compassionate woman started inviting homeless kids into her home who were running around in the market place in Iringa. The Iringa Diocese has taken over support of this ministry. The seminary student is Kristina Waters again. The young woman in the background is Kati Bombardi from PLTS in Berkeley.
