Internship Placement Process
1. Preliminary Interviews with
CLI Staff
Luther students: All prospective interns who have returned an application
should have completed a preliminary interview during fall semester with their assigned CLI staff person.
If you have not, please notify your assigned CLI staff person.
PLTS students: All prospective interns must turn in a hard
copy of an Intention to Apply for Internship form in the fall semester. Early in the
spring semester, students will sign
up for a preliminary interview with the director of contextual education.
Beginning February 1, prospective interns who have completed and
submitted an
internship application for the next academic year can
view the site
information on-line. Students are encouraged to check back throughout
February, as more sites may be added to this list as we receive their
information.
3.
Interviews with Potential Supervisors
February 9- February 20
Some internship
site supervisors come to either the PLTS and Luther Seminary campuses (or
both!) to interview potential interns between
February 9 and 20. If you wish to interview with any of the listed potential
supervisors, coming to either campus, you must sign up for an interview
time via the online Sessions RSVP
tool. An e-mail will be sent to all prospective interns giving a link to the
RSVP tool when the interview time slots are posted.
- Do not contact the supervisor directly.
Sign up for an interview using the online Sessions RSVP
tool.
- Twin Cities Interviews: Students who have restricted
their internships to the Twin
City Metro area can interview with the Twin Cities area pastors.
- If you have any concerns after interviewing with a
potential supervisor, please be in touch with your placement contact person.
- It is recommended that your interviews do not conflict
with courses.
By March 1, all site information will be made available
for review online.
Please do not contact the supervisor
of the site you are interested in.
All communication regarding placement goes
through the Contextual Leadership Initiative office.
From March 1 to March 19, we recommend that you carefully
read through those sites that interest you, then,
using the online form, submit your placement
preferences, giving your four top choices with accompanying reasons. Your site selection form needs to be submitted on-line by March
19.
5. Placements Completed
April 6-10
The CLI staff will respond to your comments and work with
you to arrive at a mutually agreeable placement. Recommended placement
communication will be sent out to students the week of April 6-10. Congregations
will be notified the week following.
The timeline for those seeking a
restricted placement may need to be extended.
